MAJOR changes are coming

I am not talking about the obvious. This one involves Brian's work schedule.

Word just came down from the Chief that on June 27th Murray fire will be changing thier shift schedule. Meaning they will go from 24 on/24 off to 48on/96off. Yep you read that correctly. 2 days and nights on work and then off for 4 days...but that doesn't mean he is off. He still has Ross to fill in his time. This is a major adjustment for both Brian as a professional and us as a family..as if we didn't have enough changes coming our way!! Please be patient with us as we try to figure out how this is going to work. So for simplification here are the days he will be on duty.
June 27 28
July 3 4, 9 10, 15 16, 21 22, 27 28.

These are only his Murray days. He has Ross on most of the days that he isn't at the station. The other issue we run into is there is a real possibilty of him not sleeping for 2 nights in a row. If this is the case, we might not be up to do anything even if he is off. My priority is to make sure my husband gets the sleep he needs so he can function. Which I am sure the residents of Murray would appreciate also.

As for the baby...he will never know life as a 24 hour kid. He will always be a 48 hour kid. The saying "wait until your dad gets home" just won't work for us.

Kids and babies are amazingly adaptable. He won't know any different, so he'll just be excited when daddy does come home! It's the moms who have to do all the adjusting! We've never been a 9-5 family, it just doesn't work for us.

yep... your babe will totally adapt and be fine. He will miss daddy, but it will work. At our house, th "wait until dad gets home" phrase doesn't really work either :)
Is Brian taking paternity leave when the babe is born?

You can tell him "wait until Aunt Jen gets here." That will brighten his day every time. :)
