Now it is out of control. Everytime we start a new part of the remodel it grows to be a little larger than planned. What we thought would be tear down the front wall to insulate has turned into to tear down all outside walls, take the paneling off the center wall, and tear parts of it down to give the main floor a more open feel. The outside walls will look the same as before when all is done, just an inch thicker. But the partial wall by the fireplace is what has changed. By the stairs we took out half of it and made more of a railing than a wall. Than on the other side we took out three feet of wall between the front room and dining room. We also took down all the wood paneling with plans to put it back up until we saw how quickly it went up in flames. Now the plan is to sheetrock and paint everywhere and then tile around the fireplace. Remember in five years my house will be fabulous. I have given Brian an August deadline to have this all put back together.

It seems that you are opening up the area and getting the feeling of more space. I hope it all comes together soon. It's good that you are both hard workers and are willing to jump in and make things happen. All my best.
